Lakkidi View Point, Kalpetta

Must Visit Kumarakom, a Fascinating Cluster of Islands

Kumarakom is one of the most popular tourist destinations, located at the distance of 16 km from the city of Kottayam, in the beautiful state of Kerala.  This place is renowned for its backwater tourism. Kumarakom is a cluster of small islands on the Vembanad Lake, which is the largest fresh water lake in the entire region of Kerala.

The bird sanctuary located in Kumarakom is spread across 14 acres, which is a most preferred haunt of migratory birds and as well as for the ornithologist. Pakshipathalam

Pakshipathalam is situated in the Brahmagiri Hills, at an altitude of 1740 m above sea level. Located at a distance of 7 km from Thirunelli, as the name itself suggests the affluence of birdlife, Pakshipathalam is a home to several species of birds. Its awe-inspiring features of untouched forests, streams and steep hills together offer a challenging as well as adventurous venue for trekking. One of its major tourist attractions is a cave which is believed to have been used for medical purpose by the saints in the ancient times. Bats seem to be the main inhabitants of this cave and one other species of birds known as ‘Edible Nest Swift’ which built their nest with their saliva is found in this cave. The adventurous part of this cave is that you will have to trek through the dense forest for about 8 km which is about 3 hrs, to reach this cave. Sentinel Rock Trekking

Sentinel rock is located at Vellarimala village Chooralmala in Wayanad district of gods own country Kerala. This enchanting waterfall is at Vellarimala village near Chooralmala in Meppadi panchayat. Locally known as Soochippara the Sentinel rock is 200 meter in length, it is an exemplary place for rock climbing and serve as a picnic spot and a trekking center. It can be reached by 2km of earthy walk seeing various floras and faunas including deers. The trek to this place is not so difficult and can be achieved by any nature lover.
